Oregano Leaf

Oregano is a perennial member of the mint family often grown as an annual garden herb. Because it is closely related to marjoram, it is often referred to as sweet marjoram or wild marjoram, which, not surprisingly, can generate confusion. Gently bruising the fresh leaf or rubbing the dried herb between your fingers will resolve all doubt as to the plant’s identity.

With a savory, somewhat peppery and pungent flavor and aroma, oregano is a traditional seasoning used in Italian, Spanish, Mexican, Indian and Moroccan cuisines.
